Color Is Back

While the Phifertex stock line provides a fixed selection of dynamic color, pattern and texture choices, our custom designs and weaves are limited only by the imagination.

The environment continues to be the dominant influence on the green palette. The movement of greens from yellow to blue has reversed somewhat, as more of the current colors are yellow-based. Because of the anticipated importance of green, Phifer is including a whole range of greens in its line of Designed Fabrics. Boxwood, Celery and Silver Apple mixed with naturals are a strong color story. Nature patterns are also expected to flourish, with designs that incorporate leaves, bamboo and branches.

Special effects are becoming more important in this category, but not necessarily with gloss finishes. The addition of metallics, pearlescents, tone-on-tone, pattern-on-pattern and other effects are making traditional colors look fresh and new. Stone, wood and other natural materials are also influencing these colors, particularly in weathered and distressed forms. All categories are using a wide range of neutrals, from light tints to stronger, earthier colors. Choose neutrals that work back to the tone of your other colors. Phifer is focusing on slightly yellow-toned neutrals, Pebble, Marzipan and Oyster Cream, which work back to virtually every palette. Also included are a few neutrals that are more of a taupe tone, which can work back to silvery or cooler palettes.

Tuscan GlowTuscan Glow
Imagine ironwork, arabesques and warm hues. Metallic finishes work great in this palette to accent the warmth of the sun colors. Terracotta and chili/paprika help warm up the effect to a fiery glow, and fresh additions of rich wine or sapphire create an appealing contrast.

Spice MarketSpice Market
Asian influences from warmer climates, such as Indonesia, India, Thailand and the Philippines, are important here. While the deep red and orange color palette is warm, exotic and passionate, natural woven textures in rattan and wicker have an inherent feeling of being low-key and earthy.
