What Is Excellent Visibility Insect Screen (eVis)?

Excellent visibility insect screens (eVis) are products that improve outward visibility, making it possible to focus on a sharper and more brilliant view beyond your window screen. Think of it as an upgrade to “high-definition” for conventional screening applications.

The yarn or wire diameter in an eVis product is generally smaller than that of traditional insect screening, so it blocks less of your vision and allows more light transmittance and airflow. And although the mesh openness is increased to improve the view, the holes in the mesh are still as small as or smaller than that of traditional insect screening, resulting in superior insect protection.

Phifer’s newest fiberglass eVis product, BetterVue™, is constructed with a five percent greater openness than conventional insect screen, resulting in better visibility, light transmittance and airflow. The mesh’s aperture opening is 30 percent smaller than standard fiberglass insect screen, providing even better insect protection. With a durability that makes it suitable for all window and door applications, BetterVue performs excellently in coastal and high humidity regions, and the ease of fabrication is comparable to that of today’s standard fiberglass screen.
